My name is Sara, I am 37 years old, I live in Rome and work as an office employee.
I have been practicing Pilates for many years, I love books, and I am actually looking forward to collaborating as a library warehouse assistant. I am learning crochet work and have a passion for animals, especially cats.
I hope to become a mother soon.
I began losing my hair at the age of 32.
At the time of my alopecia diagnosis, I was unfamiliar with this condition, which caught me off guard: I never thought I would lose every single hair.
I spent a few months trying various treatments, some with significant side effects, so I decided to stop them, and by December 2018, I had lost all my hair.
Every doctor I saw told me I was stressed and that the onset of the disease was probably due to the trauma of my father’s recent passing, to whom I was very close.
For this reason, I began psychotherapy, which helped me not only to process my grief but also to accept my baldness.
Looking back at the first year of the illness, I feel that sense of loss again: I had lost not just my hair but also who I was. In the mirror, I saw nothing familiar, which caused me a deep sense of discomfort.
Over the years, I have tried various types of prostheses and wigs.
I started wearing fixed trichological prostheses but now prefer to wear removable wigs, which I can take off whenever I want.
At home, in fact, I prefer to be bareheaded!

A couple of years ago, I went to the beach for the first time showing myself without hair and without feeling ashamed of the curious glances of people around. At work, for example, I always wear my wig, and particularly when I practice Pilates, there are other situations where I like to wear turbans or nothing at all.
The Amelie model has been perfect for me; its Anti-slip Cap with silicone inserts wraps around firmly and gently without irritating my skin.
The size S fits me perfectly, as others I’ve tried were all too large.
I wear it to work, when I go out in the evening, and even during my workouts; it’s really comfortable and stable.
Rediscovering the sensation of hair brushing against my face is beautiful.
There have been wigs or prostheses that made me feel uncomfortable, but with Amelie and a bit of makeup, I feel like the queen of the world!
Over the past year, I’ve made peace with my image, even though I always miss my hair.
