Maria Story

My name is Maria, I’m 30 years old, and I work as a pastry technician, both in Italy and abroad. I love reading, walking by the sea and in the mountains, and traveling.
I have several plans for the future: to graduate, complete my website, and have an experience in an Anglo-Saxon country to further improve my English.

Upon discovering that I had cancer and that chemotherapy would cause me to lose my hair, I decided to shave my head to avoid seeing it fall out in patches.
It was a difficult choice, but with the support of my best friend, I did it and am happy with the decision: shaving my head allowed me to experience the loss of my hair with less suffering.

At first, I was focused on the illness and solving the more serious problem, which was the cancer.
The first time I wore a wig was for fun.
It was a wig that a dear friend used in his shop on mannequins, certainly not a high-quality wig.

A few months later, my hairdresser convinced me to buy a wig online, but it was so fake that I never used it.
Now, I feel the need to have a wig that allows me to feel as beautiful as I once did.
I believe that with a good wig, I could feel more comfortable and thus fully enjoy the time spent with other people.

Then, I finally found the right wig!
The style Kate turned out to be truly perfect during the months of treatment.
Its hand-crafted cap allowed my skin to breathe. Moreover, Kate is not too thick: this makes it very light and looks very natural.

When I wear it, I feel good, even now that my hair has started to grow back. In fact, by positioning some clip combs on the cap, I can comfortably wear it without any worries.
My hair grows back freely, and with Kate, I feel secure and beautiful!

Unfortunately, I realize that the illness and the loss of hair have negatively affected my self esteem and the confidence I have in myself.

“My hair grows back freely, and with Kate,
I feel secure and beautiful!”

I was supported by many people, but unfortunately, I also met some who were insensitive.
For this reason, I plan, with the help of a social media manager, to share my story to send a message to women who are going through what I have partly experienced.

I believe it is important to talk about the experience of cancer, chemotherapy, and hair loss, to share to feel united, and thus find the strength to face the disease, the treatments, the baldness. And to also talk about what we can do to take care of ourselves, like wearing a wig!
