My name is Camilla, I am 19 years old, and I am in my final year of language high school.
I’m facing graduation and then university; currently, I’m leaning towards political science or economics.
I’m still very confused about my future; I have many projects that I hope to realize!
And I hope to soon resume my hobbies, music and sports, which I had to give up due to heavy studying.
I lost my hair for the first time at the age of 5.
Alopecia caught us all unprepared; my parents knew nothing about it and had to inform themselves about the causes and existing treatments.
At school, my teacher had “prepared”
my classmates by showing them pictures of herself without hair (she had lost it due to chemotherapy in her youth) to make us understand that there was nothing wrong with my condition.
It worked perfectly because I have no bad memories of those years. Gradually, my hair began to grow back, until at 10 years old, I stopped wearing a wig because I had my own hair again.
Even though I knew alopecia is unpredictable, I didn’t expect it to happen again, but at 16 years old, I found myself without hair again in just three days. I can’t say it wasn’t difficult, I suffered but managed to recover quickly.
For a few years now, I’ve been wearing the Dominique model in size S. When I tried it on for the first time, I immediately fell in love with it because it felt secure and snug; finally, I could move freely!
With the wig I used before, I had to apply doublesided tape every day but still didn’t feel secure.
On windy days, I would laugh and joke with my friends, saying that sooner or later my wig would fly away! With Dominique, however, I feel secure and comfortable, thanks to the cap of the right size, which wraps around without causing any discomfort.

I chose it in a color different from my own and one I never thought would look good on me; it was a discovery! I like taking care of it, I wash it myself and brush it often, in fact, I have a brush in my bag. I always use it when I go out, while at home I prefer to wear a turban or simply the hood of my sweatshirt.
I believe that a wig is a great help, not a mask to hide behind but an accessory that we like and that allows us to change hairstyles if we wish or to have the hair we’ve always dreamed of.
Over the years, I’ve learned that a wig should be worn with the awareness of being the same beautiful person both with and without it and of not being less valuable than anyone else.
