Topper Care and Maintenance
Dedicated Care for Top Front & Hair Integration Systems
As hair on an integration system or topper is not attached to the scalp, it is unable to benefit from the natural lipids produced by the body to protect human hair. Even cuticle-intact Remy hair — the highest quality hair available — requires greater moisture and specialized care than natural growing hair.
Our specialized PLUS12 line compensates for this lack of natural nourishment, keeping treated and colored natural hair systems soft, flexible, and vibrant.
The PLUS12 Botanical Complex
PLUS12 is Fair Fashion’s dedicated line of hairpiece care products, engineered to meet the unique structural needs of hair systems and toppers.
Each product features a blend of 12 organically grown plant extracts obtained through enzymatic extraction, combined with restructuring active ingredients. The synergistic action of this botanical complex restores strength, seals cuticles, and preserves the lightweight feel of your Top Front system.
Step-by-Step Maintenance Routine for Toppers & Systems
What You Need:
- PLUS12 Multi-Active Restructuring Shampoo
- PLUS12 Nourishing Restructuring Mask
- PLUS12 Fluid Keratin Restructuring Spray / Lotion
- Professional Kotibé Wood Brush (for toppers, wigs & extensions)
- Soft microfiber towel
- Hairdryer and flat iron or curling iron (optional)
Step-by-Step Washing & Conditioning Process
Preparation:
- Clip-in Toppers: If your hair system features clip-in combs, remove it first and wash it safely on a flat surface or holding it securely by hand.
- Fixed/Semi-Permanent Systems: If your integration system is attached or integrated without removable clips, it can be washed directly while worn on your head.
- Gently brush the hair using your Kotibé Wood Brush, starting from the ends and moving upward to smooth out all tangles.
Wetting the System:
- Let lukewarm water flow from the roots to the ends. Do not flip your head upside down while washing if wearing the system, to prevent severe tangling and protect the integrity of the micro-fine net and base structure.
Shampoo Application:
- Dispense a small amount of PLUS12 Shampoo into your palm and distribute it evenly through the hair from roots to ends.
- Massage gently using downward strokes. Do not rub or use circular motions, as this damages the delicate base mesh and knots.
- Rinse thoroughly under lukewarm running water from top to bottom.
Nourishing Treatment:
- Gently pat the hair with a soft towel to remove excess water.
- Apply PLUS12 Nourishing Restructuring Mask strictly to the mid-lengths and ends.
- ⚠️ Important Caution: Avoid applying masks or conditioners directly to the root area, polyurethane borders, or micro-net knots to prevent base slippage or knot loosening.
- Leave the mask on for the recommended time indicated on the label, then rinse thoroughly in a downward motion.
Drying & Styling:
- Wrap the hair system in a soft towel and gently press to absorb moisture — never rub.
- Gently comb through with the Kotibé Wood Brush, starting at the ends.
- Blow-dry on medium heat. Because Top Front systems are made from 100% natural Remy human hair, you can style them with a flat iron or curling iron. Always apply a heat protectant and never exceed 180°C (350°F).
-
Finishing Spray:
- Once dry and styled, mist PLUS12 Fluid Keratin Restructuring Spray across the hair. Liquid keratin strengthens the fiber, protects against environmental factors, and restores silky shine.
Golden Rules for Topper & Integration Care
- Brush Upward from Ends: Always detangle from the bottom up. Never yank starting from the base or attachment area to avoid pulling knots through the micro-net.
- Maintain the Downward Direction: Never wash your hair or hairpiece upside down; washing top-to-bottom avoids tangling at the integration points.
- Daily Maintenance: Brush 2–3 times daily with your Kotibé Wood Brush to keep cuticles smooth and friction-free against your underlying natural hair.
- Gentle Blotting: Always pat dry gently with a microfiber towel; rough towel rubbing causes mechanical breakage and frizz.
